• John of the Cross, Edith Stein, and post-Holocaust theology as variations on confronting life’s darkness.

• Orestes Brownson and John Henry Newman as paradigms for the inculturation of  Catholicism in 19th America and England.

• The interrelationship between premonitions, prophecy, and mental illness.

• The current state and recent history of post-World War II Protestant monastic groups in Western Europe.
